IAN was founded with one of the core goals in mind: inclusion. Inclusion is a key part of our all-inclusive therapies model in that it offers children the opportunity to generalize and practice what they are learning in a supportive environment. The Creative Learning Center takes this goal a step further by offering the first fully integrated and inclusive learning center in Connecticut specifically for children with special needs as well as typical peers.
The Creative Learning Center at IAN is a place for children to Play, Imagine and Learn. It is a place for them to call their own. A place for them to experience new things, learn new skills and most importantly to just be a kid. These ideas are showcased in our variety of classes, events, activities and the space itself. The CLC is specifically designed with children in mind. They get to explore and attend classes in a number of themed rooms with various activities and interactive installations throughout the space. Each activity and installation relates to a specific path of therapy from physical to sensory, speech and socialization.
Children with special needs and autism can fall on such a wide spectrum that the CLC is configurable to make it accessible for all ability levels, from children that may need 1:1 support through minimal prompting. Since the space was designed with all children in mind it is completely open to siblings and typical peers. Having all inclusive classes and activities allows for more socialization, generalization of learned skills and opportunities for social interaction.
Whether it's taking an art class, attending music therapy or just hanging out in our "monkey house", the Creative Learning Center is the perfect complement to our continuum of therapy services.

The Creative Learning Center is such a unique space that it offers a great venue for birthday parties for children of all abilities. Since the CLC is part of Innovative Autism Network we can work with families with special needs on a "birthday plan" to help their child have a successful party centered around their needs.
